WELCOME TO THE SHOW PAGE of

Birds of North America by Anna Ouyang Moench !

SYNOPSIS: BIRDS OF NORTH AMERICA explores the decade-long journey of John and his daughter Caitlyn, who bond through the tradition of birdwatching in their suburban Maryland backyard. As they scan the skies for elusive birds, their shared ritual becomes a safe space for conversation—a place to be heard and understood. However, traditions like these often create assumptions in our minds, shaping how we see those closest to us.

Through their birding, John and Caitlyn confront life’s changes—relationships beginning and ending, children growing, parents aging, and the climate shifting in both subtle and profound ways. Beneath their shared love for birds lies a deeper struggle: the challenge of being truly authentic with each other. Authenticity requires vulnerability, and it is within this vulnerability that the real story unfolds—a heartfelt examination of connection, misunderstanding, and the effort to bridge the gap between generations.

This play offers a touching reflection on the traditions that bring us together and the complexities of familial bonds.
