THEATRE B Brings Austen’s Classic to Life with a Fresh Twist in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE: An Effervescent and Hilarious New Adaptation That Bends Tradition and Sparks Conversation

SYNOPSIS: Theatre B presents Pride and Prejudice, a spirited new adaptation by Kate Hamill of Jane Austen’s beloved novel. This fresh, fiercely funny take on literature’s most iconic love story pits the intelligent and independent Elizabeth Bennet against the proud and enigmatic Mr. Darcy in a whirlwind of wit, chaos, and irresistible chemistry.

Directed by Matthew Dryburgh, this playful reimagining of Austen’s classic finds the outspoken Elizabeth under pressure from her status-conscious mother to marry—whether she wants to or not. But in a world of social conventions, empire waists, and lavish Regency attire, can Elizabeth forge her own path? Or will her encounters with the tall, aloof, and mildly amusing Mr. Darcy lead her in an entirely unexpected direction?

Playwright Kate Hamill breathes hilarious new life into the Bennet clan, giving Austen’s words a deliciously modern twist. With screwball comedy, feminist spirit, and barely controlled chaos, this production asks us to laugh, reflect, and reconsider what love and partnership really mean.
