Romeo and Juliet
A co-production of Theatre B and Theatre NDSU!
MOORHEAD, MN — To launch its 2025–2026 season, Theatre B proudly joins forces with Theatre NDSU to present a daring new co-production of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Adapted and directed by Theatre B’s Artistic Director Jon Micheels Leiseth, this collaboration bridges university training and professional artistry to bring one of Shakespeare’s most famous stories to life in a world both familiar and dangerously new.
Set in an imagined Italy where Renaissance grandeur meets the tension of the 1940s, this Romeo and Juliet explores love, loyalty, and resistance in the shadow of a totalitarian regime. Amid sumptuous danger, two young lovers struggle to cross the boundaries their families and the state have built to keep them apart.
“This partnership embodies everything Theatre B stands for — collaboration, courage, and community,” said Jon Micheels Leiseth. “Working alongside NDSU’s talented students and faculty, we’re rediscovering Shakespeare’s words through a contemporary lens — one that feels startlingly relevant to today’s world.
The idea for this collaboration between Theatre B and Theatre NDSU sparked over a cup of coffee. We hope this fresh adaptation of one of the world’s most enduring stories ignites your own conversations about love, hate and fate!” – Jon Micheels Leiseth
The cast features a dynamic blend of Theatre B Ensemble artists and NDSU students, creating an experience that unites the Fargo-Moorhead theatre community across generations and stages of artistry.
